i forgot why i had ‘auto-expire’ on posts.

one of reason is to keep the space footprint small.

this isn’t a real problem: site is only about 1,620,687 bytes on disk.

probably a bit larger because of this post.

another is ‘relevance’.

there is a wasteland between “contemporary” and “historical”. it’s where most ideas die.

the “strongest” ideas survive this naturally (a very rare occurance).

the ideas we think are important we protect through this rite of passage.

if we treat every idea of equal importance, we prevent this process.
